This is liminal…
Becca clued me in to the existence of tent cities, something I had never really known existed. She told me that these tent cities are appearing in the west and mid-west because of the housing collapse. I immediately said “Holy shit that’s so sci-fi!” to which she responded, “that’s so great depression.” I’ll readily admit that my historical knowledge is sorely lacking in many ways. The truth is, I had never put much time into thinking about the great depression. It’s depressing.
So, I decided I’m going to do a little research on these liminal settlements. More later.
