The term Hooverville was coined by Charles Michelson as a reference to the president who “caused” the great depression. The term Bushville has arisen in the past few years as a way of linking George Bush and the 08 collapse with Herbert Hoover and the 29 collapse. Tent cities resulting from the 2008-2009 economic collapse have also been referred to as Bushvilles in criticism of George W. Bush\'s economic policies, drawing comparisons to the Hoovervilles of the Great Depression.
